Passport Fair

If you are planning on traveling outside the U.S. this year or your passport is set to expire in the next 6 months, it is time to get yourself a new passport. The Oshkosh Post Office is hosting a Passport Fair June 17th, 2017 from 9:30am-2:00pm. They are located at 1025 W. 20th Ave. and will be processing passports that day. There is no appointment necessary and they will be there to give you all the information that you will need to apply for your U.S. passport.

Of course we are hoping to get passports in as many people’s hands as possible, but we would also like to support another local business in conjunction with encouraging everyone to get or renew their passports. Camera Casino is the only passport photo location that we, Ambassador Travel, recommend. If you book a trip with us, you will also receive a discount at Camera Casino. We reached out to the staff at Camera Casino to find out why it is so important to get your passport pictures taken through a reputable location. Here is what we found out:

First and foremost it is easy and efficient to have your passport photos taken at Camera Casino, and you don’t need an appointment. Their cameras and lighting is set up with no shadow. They measure every passport photo before it goes to the customer to be sure it is within the passport specifications. Aside from passports they can also do immigration and visa photos for other countries. For example a Canadian passport has completely different specifications than a U.S. passport. Photos that are not done to the specific requirements can be rejected, which if you are in a time crunch can mean missing a trip. The passport approval process is extremely picky and in the rare instance that your Camera Casino pictures are rejected they will redo any photos that they have taken. Camera Casino also stays up on regulations that are constantly changing. Recently the rules changed on eyeglasses, which are no longer allowed in photos.

So if you are looking to let the travel bug bite you and you want a truly reliable company that will help you on your way to seeing the world please make sure to stop by Camera Casino before you attend the Passport Fair at the Oshkosh Post office this June. Once you are all set with your documents it is time to give us a call at Ambassador Travel. For any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!

The City of Lights

Now that we have gotten a taste of what Brittany experienced on her Paris adventure, let’s here from Connie about their trip to the City of Lights.

17862606_10155380411541833_7955700344459905468_n.jpgOn April 5 Brittany and I traveled to Paris France.  Once we arrived we took a transfer bus to Disneyland Paris.  We stayed at the Newport Bay Resort on the grounds of Disneyland Paris.  This resort is comparable to Disney Beach and Yacht Club.  It was about a 20-minute walk to the front entrance of the parks.  We spent two nights at the resort.  The two theme parks had many of the classic Disney rides and some that are not in the other parks.  The train was easy to take to the city center in Paris after our stay.  We stayed at the Citadines Apart-Hotel in St Germain.  This a an apartment / studio style place to stay in Paris.  Many of the highlights were easy to walk to from your hotel.  I do highly recommend the hop on hop off tour for an easy way to get around 17522858_10155381089916833_1484049330141533634_n.jpgthe city and seeing the major sites.  One day Brittany and I split up I went to see Mont Michel, which has been on my bucket list for a long time.  It was so beautiful to see.  When I make it back, I want to stay overnight.  Many quaint little shops and place to eat.  Make sure to check out the views from the ferris wheel when back in the city.  The lines were not long and it was a great way to see for miles around the city.  Also worth the climb was Montmartre.  Beautiful area to grab a coffee and check out local artwork.  I will say my favorite part was the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night.

If you are thinking about visiting Paris anytime soon Connie and Brittany have seen and done a lot and are great assets to anyone looking to travel to the French capital. Call us today for more information.

Euro Disney to Paris

Our featured blog posts this week continue with Brittany’s write up on her most recent trip to Paris.

17861980_10155380411246833_8262072112292736759_n.jpg“We got up early to take advantage of the ‘early hours’ at the park which basically allows anyone staying on grounds to get into some sections of the park between 8 and 10am when no one else is allowed.  There are only some sections of the park available, but it was awesome to be able to walk to through the park when it wasn’t quite so crowded and get lots of pictures! We spent most of the day doing rides and walking around the park. We ate at a steakhouse for lunch where I had the most amazing Scottish Crumble Salmon with herbed smashed potatoes and beurre-blanc sauce. Hands down best meal I had at Disney! After that we went and did more rides.. my two favorite rides were Big Thunder Mountain and Rock’n Roller Coaster w/ Aerosmith.  The second was a literal roller coaster where you flip and turn and go upside down – it was awesome and completely unexpected!

17800462_10155380411081833_4370989582624286655_n.jpgDay 3 and we were off to Paris! We got up and packed and out of the room by 11am. We took the shuttle to the metro and bought a one way pass for 7 euros to get from Disneyland to Paris City Centre. We made it to the Metro (just in time!) and it was about 45 minute ride to our stop. We had to switch lines once, which was actually pretty easy to find and the signs are very helpful in finding where you need to go!  Our stop was right by Notre Dame so when you walk out (and of course it was a beautiful sunny day in Paris) you are right in a big square with cute little restaurants and people eating outside and just watching the world go by! It was a short walk to our hotel where we dropped off our bags and went to get lunch as our room was not quite ready. We went to a Canadian Bar for lunch which was very good. After we went back to our hotel to check in, got a little unpacked and the headed out to use our Hop on/Hop off pass! We basically did one big loop around Notre Dame, the Louvre, Champs Ellysees, Eiffel Tower and then downtown. After we got back we walked down the streets behind us which were picturesque streets – small cobblestone streets lined with restaurants that offer any and all types of cuisine! We settled on a little Itialian place called L’isolotto where we had Caprese Bruschetta with buffalo mozzarella and I had a Margherita Pizza – all of it was fabulous!”

Paris in Springtime

17796110_10155161925707498_1357045948355599957_n.jpgFor the next week I will be chronicling the adventures of Connie and Brittany in Paris. They have both written up tons of valuable information that we want to share with you, so make sure to tune in each day to hear more about their fabulous springtime vacation to the City of Lights.

“We got into Charles De Gaulle airport around 9:30 am, went through customs, picked up our bags then headed outside to meet the Magic Shuttle Bus (on our way to Disneyland Europe). We only had to wait about 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. After they picked us up we had to make 2 other stops at the airport and then went on to Disney – in all I think the ride was about an hour but there was free Wi-Fi, which is always nice to be able to touch base with home. We arrived at Newport Bay and checked in. Our room was not yet ready as it was only noon so we left our luggage with their bellmen and walked down to the park! The park was only about a 5 minute walk from our hotel and it was a very nice walk around a big lake with beautiful landscaping. The first area you walk into is the main restaurant area! (The first two things we saw were McDonalds and a Chicago steak house, which I

Ratatouille Restaurant, Disneyland Paris

thought was ironic because we travelled half way around the work to eat local food! Lol) We ate at a little pub and then wandered around through the parks just to get our bearings and find out where everything is. That night we went to Ratatouille for dinner which was adorable! It is themed for the movie so everything was food themed – there was a huge ‘Anyone Can Cook’ book and the booths were made of plates and silverware- it was very cute!”

Scottsdale, Arizona

IMG_2517.JPG-1.jpeg

Hello all, we are back to blogging this week after a fabulous work trip to Scottsdale, Arizona. Each year we attend our Travel Network’s annual conference with this year’s location being Scottsdale. We stayed at the McCormick Ranch resort, which was just a few miles from downtown Scottsdale. If you are looking for a location with excellent restaurants, exciting night life and relaxing accommodations we would highly recommend both this resort and the city itself.

The downtown area of Old Scottsdale offers tons of art galleries, shopping, bars and delicious Southwest eats. We also spent an evening at Fort McDowell, which you can see in our image offers you and your guests incredible views of the desert. Here we enjoyed line dancing, a good old fashioned BBQ and the warm desert breeze.

We capped off the event Sunday night at The Venue Scottsdale, which began with a rooftop reception and ended in a picture perfect indoor dinner, great for weddings, business dinners or large group parties.

Scottsdale is home to many snowbirds, who leave the cold Midwest behind and head South for the winter. If you are looking for a place that you can get active, relax or take in the Southwest’s rich culture then Scottsdale is for you.

Spain and Portugal

One of our travel agent extraordinaire’s, Connie, recently returned from a fun filled Insight Vacations trip to Spain and Portugal. Below she will regale us with this educational tour. Check it out!

Screen Shot 2017-05-02 at 1.20.47 PM.png

“I loved the educational tour I went on with Insight Vacations.   I have had many clients travel with Insight and they have come back loving the company and touring again and again with them.  Insight has two types within the company, Insight (where they have 5 different styles of tours) and Insight Gold (luxury travel).  Both companies use buses with more legroom, I took a photo of our tour guide Brad who is over 6ft tall in one of the seats and he has ample legroom.

They have an element called Signature Experiences where you get to engage in authenic experiences.  Our trip started with landing in Madrid and a dinner reception to get to know the other in our tour group.  We did a city tour the next day that included a stop at the Prado Museum.  In the afternoon, we had free time.  The next day we ventured to the city of Toledo, which is famous for its swords.  We got a walking city tour and visited the Church of Santo Tome with El Greco’s famous painting.  We stayed the night in Granada,  The next day we toured Alhambra Palace and the royal summer residence before we departed for Seville.  We did see the 15th century cathedral, which is the final resting place of Christopher Columbus.  That evening we were treated to a Flamenco show.

The next morning, we traveled to Cordoba to see Mezquita an 8th Century mosque with a Christian Church built inside it.  It was amazing to see something that had been built so long ago.  The next day we traveled to Lisbon with a stop in Jabugo.  When we arrived in Lisbon we got to see Christ is King in Almada, which is similar to Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. On our last full day in Lisbon we went to the famous Pasteis de Belem where they have managed to keep the recipe a secret for over 100 years.  We did visit Jeronimos Monastery with its amazing architecture.   I would love to travel back to explore more of this area in the near future!”
