Attend Our Mixers!

Screen Shot 2016-11-21 at 12.54.32 PM.pngHere at Ambassador Travel we host many nights, sometimes regarding a specific group trip we’re hosting, sometimes as an informative night on an area of the world and other times for a promotion we are involved in. Caina recently attended one of our Contiki Mixers, which was for our Ireland group trip. Here is what she had to say–

“I recently attended a mixer event that was put on by Ambassador Travel and Contiki. I was very impressed with the individuals hosting the mixer and have nothing but positive things to say about everyone that I encountered. I am happy to report that I will be traveling to Ireland in May 2017! I would not have taken the leap and signed up for this trip if it were not for the friendly and well-informed staff at Ambassador Travel. I worked with Brittany directly to get my deposit in for the trip and she was very helpful and has a wonderful attitude. I am excited she will be on the trip with us and so look forward to experiencing Ireland with good friends. Thank you, Ambassador Travel!”

We love when people come and hang out and learn about what we, at Ambassador Travel, are doing and it’s great when our knowledge of the world inspires people to travel places they would have never thought before. Want more information on our upcoming mixers and events? Stop by our website and find our Upcoming Events section on our homepage!

Holiday Travel Tips

HolidayTravel_announ_v2-640x265
Good afternoon everyone, with the holidays right around the corner and many of us traveling either by plane or car it is always good to be prepared for the extra craziness that the holidays bring out in travel and travelers. Here is a great article by the Travel Channel with helpful hints and tips to surviving the holidays, or at least the travel part, we can’t help you with your family members.

Wherever you’re heading, if you’re traveling during the holiday season, you need to realize that everyone else in the world is, too. But don’t let invasive security scanners, terrible drivers and long lines at airports get you down. We’re giving you tips to survive the holiday travel season without a Frosty the Snowman-size meltdown.

Do your research.

Plan alternative trips if traffic makes your way home too overwhelming. Is there a scenic drive that might be longer but have less traffic? Break up a long drive by finding a few places to stop that will get the kids more excited than a truck rest stop. When flying, make sure you check the airline’s restrictions ahead of time on carry-on luggage and fees for checked bags.

Stay connected.

Stock up on the latest travel apps before you leave home. Flight Status gives you real-time updates on delays, baggage numbers and more, and GateGuru gives you approximate times you’ll spend in security. Heading out on the road? Find the cheapest gas and cleanest bathrooms on the road with GasBuddy and SitOrSquat.

Pack snacks and drinks, so you and your family will be fueled up for a road trip. If you’re flying, definitely get some grub before you board the plane.

Pack light.

Avoid checking bags altogether if you can. You won’t have to wait for your luggage on the conveyor belt, and you won’t have to worry about your mom’s Christmas present getting lost in Logan Airport. If you do check luggage, make sure you have all your medications and important documents and a change of clothes in your carry-on in case your luggage gets lost. Here’s a family packing list for more tips.

Pack earplugs.

Short of doing yoga in the airport, the best way to mentally escape your stressful surroundings is to turn the volume down. And the easiest way to do that is with earplugs. Crying baby next seat over on the plane? Earplugs. Sister’s music in the car driving you mad? Earplugs. And if you really want to check out for a bit? Bring an eye mask (as long as you aren’t driving).

Don’t get hangry.

When your tummy growls, your mind can’t think straight, and you could unknowingly get in the wrong line, take the wrong turn, or worse, upset an innocent flight attendant. Pack snacks and drinks, so you and your family will be fueled up for a road trip. If you’re flying, definitely get some grub before you board the plane (check our GateGuru’s Best Airport Restaurants), so you won’t have to rely on airline food if you’re sitting on the tarmac for hours.

Ship gifts or give gift cards.

TSA suggests to ship wrapped gifts or wait until you reach your destination to wrap them, as they might have to unwrap a present to inspect it. Ship gifts ahead of time or bring the gift that can’t go wrong: gift cards to their favorite store or an Amazon card.

Travel on off-peak days.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the biggest travel day of the year and can also cause you the biggest meltdown of the year. A better option is to leave early on Thanksgiving Day and avoid the record traffic the night before. Same goes with flying: if you fly on the actual holiday itself you’ll be avoiding the long lines and hoards of travelers.

Flight statistics show that planes traveling earlier in the day have a better on-time performance. Best time to hit the road? When every one else is asleep — early morning or late at night

Travel early or late in the day.

Flight statistics show that planes traveling earlier in the day have a better on-time performance. And if your flight is cancelled, you will have the option of taking a flight later in the day. Also, there will be fewer lines at security. Best time to hit the road? When every one else is asleep — early morning or late at night. You can always take a nap when you arrive at your destination or on the ride there (if you aren’t the driver, of course).

Plan for the unexpected.

Have only a half hour before connecting to another flight? Traveling to Rochester, NY, during snow season? Think ahead and plan accordingly. Leave extra time before flights to deal with security, extra time between connections and, for road trips, pack tire chains for snowy conditions, flashlights, and of course, a few band-aids never hurt either.

Inhale. Exhale.

The overly friendly person next to you on the plane, the cancelled flights, the luggage that fell off in the middle of the highway? All of it will make for great stories over dinner when you finally make it to your destination. After all, holiday travel stress is just as much of a tradition as pumpkin pie and regifting.

As your trusted travel professionals we are here to make your holiday travel as smooth as possible. For any problems related to travel (again we can’t help you with your family) we are here to help. Contact us at 920.236.7777 and we wish you all a happy and safe holiday season!

Memories to be Made

testimonials.jpg

We love sharing testimonials of people who know the value that we as a travel agency add to their experience. The unknown is always the scariest part, and we don’t want ANYTHING about your vacation to be scary. When you book with a travel professional you are getting so much more than a vacation. We are available for questions or concerns at any time. We are experts in our field because we have traveled to these locations, have excellent contacts and a whole travel network backing us for a great knowledge of the world. We research, get to know you and give you the vacation you are looking for. We love to equip our travelers with the knowledge that they need to have a happy, safe and successful trip. We were so overjoyed to help Christine on her “first real spring break.” Check out what she had to say about us below!

“As a 24 year old looking to book my first real spring break, it was much more stressful that I had initially planned. Taking into consideration leaving the United States for the first time as well as having a more “adult” viewpoint about traveling in general, I found myself not enjoying the process of looking for resorts/flights at all. I didn’t know if I was going to be ripped off or not, wasn’t sure what would happen if something went wrong, and above all didn’t know if I was going to be safe- that was until I got referred to Ambassador Travel. It was extremely helpful to be able to work one on one with a real person to book a vacation, and it brings great peace of mind to know that if something goes wrong on my trip I have someone to contact. It is also reassuring to know that the little things are taken care of, such as transportation to and from the airport. In the future, I will never book a vacation without using a travel agent and will not hesitate to use Ambassador Travel to help me with that process!” –Christine

Cuban Cocktails

cubadrinks0515-new-daquiri.jpg

Since the Obama administration lifted regulations on travel to Cuba Americans have been flocking their for the mystery, sights and of course culture including world famous drinks. Let’s learn more about Cuban cocktails from this great Travel and Leisure article.

Shaken or stirred, straight up or on the rocks, all of Cuba’s signature swills will immediately transport you 90-miles off Floridian shores.

The sugarcane-carpeted valleys of Cuba have, for centuries, produced some of the world’s best—and most coveted—rum.  With no shortage of the tropical spirit, Cubans have learned to mix this liquor with, well, just about everything.

Improved relations between Cuba and the United States (and an exciting new proviso allowing up to $100 in Cuban rum to be brought back as a souvenir) has renewed interest in some of the country’s most famous rum cocktails.

Of course, it’s not just the sense of intrigue that comes with sipping one of these clandestine drinks that makes them so enticing. No, a love affair with one of Cuba’s classic cocktails is very much like reuniting with an old friend, or stumbling upon a bit of family history.

Take, for instance, the Cuba Libre, which is storied to be the creation of a U.S. Army Signal Corps Captain, who toasted ¡Por Cuba Libre! after the Spanish-American War concluded with a glass of rum, coke, and a wedge of lime.  It’s just one of the various concoctions that serve as the less-literary works of the curmudgeon-y expat, Ernest Hemingway. Making Memories in the Millennial Age

Social-media-marketing-services-buffalo-ny.png

It gives us great pleasure in the travel industry to be able to hear what we are doing right and how we are affecting the way people travel, especially new travels who are are booking their first trips by themselves since leaving college and starting at jobs of their own. Today’s testimonial comes from Emma, one of Ambassador’s newest clients and friends.

“Working with Ambassador has been incredibly easy and accommodating. Paying for the trip as I go has made saving for the trip the most convenient as well communicating through social media any questions that I had. Just a few days before the deadline to book I had gotten a new job in a different state, and in just a few minutes they had given me all of my flight options whether I needed to fly/drive back to the original departure location or if I could fly from my new location. Would book again through Ambassador!”

As far as reviews go, we can’t help but say this is a great one, but for more reasons than one. As a business that has been around for a long time, not just Ambassador, but travel agencies in general, we, like everyone else, need to evolve with the times. As the millennial age of travel is upon us we know that to stay competitive in the industry that we love so much we need to be accessible to the way that this younger generation travels. And thanks to Emma, we now have a great example of what we can do for our clients, no matter where their jobs or school takes them! And also convenient ways that you can get ahold of us besides just phone or email. So if you don’t follow us on our social media accounts now is the time! If you love to chat with us via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter you can definitely do so! It’s called SOCIAL media for a reason, connect with us today!
