A Leisurely Day in Paris

If you want to feel a little travel inspiration and a little wanderlust then keep reading because I got to chat with one of our excellent Travel Consultants, Brittany, about her picture perfect day while traveling around Paris.

“I started my day with a croissant and a morning pastries cook class, which was amazing. The teach was excellent and the food was unbelievable. It was such a fun thing to do, especially getting to go through all the steps of cooking without having to prep or do cleanup!

After my class I headed back to the hotel to drop off my leftovers and map out my day. I started by walking to E. Dehillerin, which is the cooking supply store where Julia Child always went. I bought a rolling pin for 9 Euro, the log wood ones that are even the whole length. And it happen to be the same kind I used in my cooking class! My next destination was walking down the ‘foodie street’. It was truly a dream! You walk and there are all of the cute little restaurants and shops, but it is the smells that I will remember for a lifetime. First you smell meat and you walk past a butcher with delicious rotisseries going, then you smell fish and you walk past the fish market, next the smell of fresh sweet strawberries hit me as I passed the fresh fruit stand. And one of the best smells of all was from the formagerie (cheese shop), yum! I can’t get enough of French cheese. The smell is so strong that it literally pulled me in, I got some cheddar and a baguette from the next shop down and went to sit near the Nelson Mandela gardens. After people watching while I ate my snack I headed back to the hotel to drop off my shopping finds and have a beer. After a quick break I was back at it again, strolling the cobble stone streets of Paris.

When I headed back out I walked down to Shakespeare and Co, which is a GREAT bookstore were I bought Julia Child’s Cooking Wisdom, because I had to by something¬†and if you can’t already tell, I am obsessed with Julia Child. As I made my way back to the hotel I stopped for some Gelato, the food is so amazing here in Paris all I want to do is try everything. I had strawberry, mango and orange and all three were, of course, delicious. And speaking of food I ended my leisurely day back in the room polishing off my baguette with cheese and chocolate cream pastry from the mornings cooking class. If you are looking for a foodie dream then Paris is the place for you.”

Brittany paints a picture, that I literally want to eat up. If wandering around Paris sample food at every stop sounds like your dream vacation, then it is time to give us a call!
