Viva Las Vegas

As some of you know last week I escaped for 3 days to the dessert for a weekend of fun in the sun. Me and my fiance spent the weekend in Vegas and hit up a lot of great spots. We started our journey in Milwaukee where we stayed at the Best Western Plus park and fly where we have an excellent rate of $82 plus tax. In the morning we were shuttled over to General Mitchell where we enjoyed breakfast and a bloody mary to kick off our weekend of debauchery the right way. After a quick 3 hour flight we landed in the city of sin. Upon arrival we caught a taxi and were whisked away to the Monte Carlo. Once there we were greeted with a drink in the lobby bar and check in went very quickly. We immediately brought our stuff to the room and headed out to explore the hotel. After a quick lunch in one of the hotel restaurants we headed to the casino. We played a bit and got a few more drinks and shopped around.

The Monte Carlo is definitely more family friendly than some of the other hotels on the strip. They have a lazy river and wave pool and we saw lots of families during our stay. The room was clean and simple with some upgrades. I don’t mind an average room, especially if I can get a good deal, because we spent most of the weekend out and about anyway. The Monte Carlo has excellent service and gives great deals in their stores and for their shows for guests staying at the hotel. I bought a pair of raybans and recieved $50 off for being a Monte Carlo guest. And when we bought tickets to see the Blue Man Group we were upgraded seating and given a cheaper price for staying at the Monte Carlo. Overall it was a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

Now Vegas may be all about gambling, drinking and nightlife, but my favorite thing to do there is try all the great restaurants. The first thing we did after booking our trip was make reservations at two restaurants we were dying to try. Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill and famed Asian fusion restaurant Nobu. I would highly suggest both, but be prepared to pay the steep fees of Vegas. If you can only pick one, then definitely Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay knows how to do it. I would not wait to make a reservation once you arrive in Vegas, the restaurants were both full when we were there.
Overall the trip was wonderful, we had a great day by the pool had some awesome food and drinks, got to see the Blue Man group and would definitely return to all that we did.
